My computational needs, like most people’s, are fairly low. I do some light image editing for the AppStorm sites, browse Facebook and Twitter, read, and write. All of those things can be accomplished on the iPhone as it is, and it makes me wonder about how much I genuinely need an i5 processor and four gigs of RAM. It also makes me question the utility of carrying around a laptop or owning a desktop filled with hardware I don’t utilize.
How might this change? The answer is in your pocket.
When it comes to trashy reality television, the US has a lot of the major bases covered. We’ve got Housewives shows from all over the country, the Bachelor keeps getting more and more like a trip to the Bunny Ranch, and then there’s the king of it all, MTV’s The Jersey Shore. If you don’t know about it, Google it. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Now not everyone likes the show, but as is usually the case with these types of things, one or two people tend to break out and form their own careers. With The Jersey Shore, it seems to be DJ Pauly D, the chiseled man with the blow-out hairstyle. And guess what. He’s got an iPhone game named DJ Pauly D – Beat That Boardwalk. Could it possibly be any good?

There are lots of things that you can do with your iPhone, sure, but we’re willing to be that there are a few more that you either don’t know about or haven’t used before, particularly with all of the additions in iOS 5. Word enthusiasts will geek out over the visually stunning and educational app Phrase Wit by Ballpoint Inc. Closely related to the developer’s other word-centric app called Word Wit, the Phrase Wit app turns exploring the nuances of the English language into an addictive quiz.
Phrase Wit introduces you to commonly mangled phrases (Think: “to pore over” versus “to pour over,” and “to palm off” versus “to pawn off”) and then teaches you the correct versions. Plus, you’ll learn the story behind some of these old classics (where did the phrase “scot-free” come from, anyway?) and the right and wrong ways to use them. I don’t need to tell you that finding a job can be hard. With our economy shrinking by the day and our forced competition with people across the world, finding a decent job that will allow you to support yourself continues to grow difficult. Thankfully, people smarter than myself have thought about this and are doing their best to help us find work.
Authentic Jobs is one such example. Built by Cameron Moll, Authentic Jobs is a job board for creative professionals, connecting prospective employers with a large pool of talented and passionate job hunters. Authentic Jobs has just released their iPhone app, and we’ve got a full review today.
Here in the US, Verizon is pushing pretty hard to make sure that all new smartphones on their network are 4G LTE capable for this year. Verizon sells the iPhone of course, which begs the question, will there be a 4G LTE iPhone in 2012?

I have always loved apps that make it easier to access what I need when I need it. I am all about efficiency and the more time I can save the better, even if it is only seconds, which then turn to minutes, and well, you know how it goes. One of my favorite apps that definitely helps in reducing my time for the Mac is Alfred, which for those of you that don’t know, is a great tool for accessing all the different things on your Mac a lot quicker and easier.
One thing I never got was the fact that the iPhone never had shortcuts — easy ways to get to the things that I do all the time. So when App Cubby came out with Launch Center, I just had to try it out to see if it would actually help me in my use of the iPhone. It’s a “one stop shop” where you can access a variety of shortcuts to help you make life a little easier on the iPhone.
