GeneralValentine’s Day at my house this year is going to be a little different than in past years. That’s the 36 week mark in my wife’s pregnancy, meaning that she’s officially full term at that point and we’re on baby watch. My gut tells me that means I should get her something special.
Talking to friends about their V-Day plans, I realized that most of them communicate with the same device. They usually buy the same model of iPhone at the same time, and then they’re both using the same device. But that’s not always the case. What about you? Do you and your significant other both have iPhones? Let us know in the poll to the right!

There have been a lot of rumors floating around these past few weeks about a larger iPhone that’s in the mix. It has a 5-inch screen, and is designed to take on the larger form factor phones like Samsung’s Note and so on. For a long time, I discounted those rumors because it didn’t make much sense. But now, I may have a different opinion.
Marco Arment, developer of Instapaper and The Magazine, recently wrote a post about his theories on a 5-inch iPhone, and it makes sense — in a theoretical way, of course. Whether or not this device actually exists is anyone’s guess.
So what’s yours? If a larger iPhone exists, would you buy it? Let us know in the poll to the right!

It seems like games on iOS are a dime a dozen these days. It’s hard to find anything different that stands out in the category, particularly when we’re flooded by Angry Birds clones and anything else that will make a cheap buck. But what we don’t have a ton of are multiplayer games set in a sci-fi universe, complete with real-time strategy components. And that brings me to this week’s sponsor, Space Settlers.
The premise isn’t simple. It has to do with man’s fascination with the “God Particle,” Hawking and time travel. But that’s OK, you’ll figure it out as you go. The basic gist is similar to other battlefield games, in that you play with a semi top-down view of the playing field, and you have to navigate your troops to their appropriate positions. Your soldiers are various mecha and other vehicles, and there are lots of different options with more than 100 accessories to choose from. Basically, there’s no way you’re going to run out of ways to play this game, because there’s a ton to do, and it’s all right there on your iPhone (or iPad, naturally).
Go Get It!
Space Settlers is free, and it’s a pretty addicting game, so get ready to settle in for a few long afternoons of fun. If you want to advance the game faster, there are in-app purchases of Dark Energy that you can buy, but it’s purely optional so don’t let that turn you off in any way. This is one of the good games that breaks the cookie cutter mold and sets out to create its mark on the genre. Support it today!
At our house, we have a collection of every console built by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, plus a few by Sega and Atari. I’ve been a console gamer for years, but recently I’ve found myself playing more on my iPhone and iPad than I have on my PS3 or any other machine connected to my living room TV.
But what about you? Are you a console gamer or are iOS games the way for you? Let us know in the poll to the right!
Although I’ve been known to take a picture or two myself, I find that often the most used camera in my arsenal is my iPhone. It’s not that it’s the best camera I own, or even that it’s the most convenient. It’s just that when something happens, I usually have my iPhone handy before anything else.
What about you? Is your iPhone your primary camera or do you use something else? Let us know in the poll to the right!
My wife is pregnant with our second child, and since we’re just over two months away from the big day, she’s already quite tired of carrying a few extra pounds. The other day she says, “I want to hit the gym after our little girl is born. Hard.” Good for her!
The last time we had gym memberships, we rocked our iPods and considered that enough. But today would we use our iPhones instead?
How about you? Do you use your iPhone to workout or do you use something else? Let us know in the poll to the right!

I’ve got a problem, and it’s headphones. Although the iPhone 5 came with EarPods that are much better than the previous earbuds, I still find myself looking for a nice and comfortable set of headphones. Turns out that I now have a small collection going, with no end in sight. There’s the pair that I use because they have a noise canceling feature, or the ones I toss in a bag because they’re small and convenient. Some I wear in public because they don’t leak sound, others I try to hide because of their cost.
What about you? What kind of headphones do you use with your iPhone? Let us know in the poll to the right!
