I think we all can agree that iTunes isn’t exactly the easiest thing to use, particularly if you have a mammoth library. There are lots of different components to the system, and it can be a bit unwieldy.
But now we have iTunes 11, a new version of the software that claims to be the best ever. Is it? Or does iTunes still need a little bit of work? Let us know in the poll to the right!

My folks recently purchased iPhone 5′s for themselves, and on my recommendation, they purchased white ones. See, I bought a black one myself, and now I find myself wishing I had bought the white instead. Of course, my mother now regrets getting a white one, so I have that parental guilt over my head. So that’s fun.

Paying to park is one of the many things in life that mankind has come to just accept — no one likes doing it, it’s not going away but sometimes it’s simply unavoidable. Even if you don’t need to pay to park, sometimes you end up parking so far away from where you need to be that you spend hours trying to find your car later on.
The app I’m reviewing today doesn’t do away with paid parking, but it does help with many of the annoyances the world of parking can bring us. It also has an extraordinarily sexy UI that will make many look at the app even if they don’t drive. Let’s get into Parkbud after the break. (more…)
Everyone typically becomes bored of something at one time or another. It’s the inevitable loss of interest that causes people to give up that great hobby they’ve been doing for so long, or to stop eating oatmeal for breakfast every morning simply because it’s become stale. Change is good, yes, but eventually the redundant pattern of quitting something and starting another task can start to show — very much so.
One of the most prominent topics of interest is mobile gaming. The industry has been around since the 1970s, but lately it’s evolved to something beyond the classic Donkey Kong Country on a Game Boy and the first iteration of Tetris on a mobile phone. Tense games of Snake were classic back in the day when Nokia ruled the mobile phone market. Now, however, Apple and Google govern the domain. The App Store and Google Play Store have brought many fabulous first-person shooters, adventures of evil swine and vexed avian, and role-playing ventures like Bastion. When AirPlay was first announced for iOS, it seemed like a pretty cool tool. Now you could stream your songs to different devices, and even video. Today, if you have an AppleTV you can stream video from your iPhone to your TV no problem.

Do you remember the Jawbone UP? You purchased the UP band, wore it on your wrist and downloaded the app to go with it. It tracked your steps, calories burned, how restful your sleep was and you could compare your results with your friends for motivation to get more active. It was a novel idea, and myself along with a few colleagues bought into it. A month or so later, Jawbone announced a recall/refund program for the UP band, after numerous reports of issues with the hardware. Soon after, the UP buzz was over. Apple Stores stopped stocking it, and the UP band was largely deemed a failure by critics.

A few weeks back, Apple had a pretty big shakeup in their management structure. Out is Scott Forstall, and in his place is Craig Federighi, who will handle both iOS and OS X. But the big news is Jony Ive’s expanded role. From the official press release:
“Jony Ive will provide leadership and direction for Human Interface (HI) across the company in addition to his role as the leader of Industrial Design. His incredible design aesthetic has been the driving force behind the look and feel of Apple’s products for more than a decade.”
Understand that although Ive isn’t in charge of iOS directly, because he’s handling direction for Human Interface, he will have an impact on the way OS X and iOS looks in the future. Many are theorizing that this means we’ll lose the felt in Game Center and the leather padding in Calendar, but we want to know what you think. Will Jony Ive help make his mark on iOS, or will his touch be more subtle? Let us know in the poll to the right!
