InternetWeb designers and digital illustrators are growing in numbers around the planet. And now with websites and mobile apps in heavy demand, it’s common to see so many new social networks focused on design rising into power. Website Dribbble is a product out of Salem, Mass. and features some very outstanding portfolios.
Each person is able to share a shot of their most recent works. These could be logos, icons, illustrations, signup forms, or anything digital and pretty. With Dunk, you’ll be able to browse the latest Dribbble shots from anywhere with your iPhone or iPod Touch. But before we get too into too much detail, let’s look at some of the application features after the jump.
If you’ve ever had trouble uploading and sharing files around the web you certainly wouldn’t be the first. There are so many services today which include tons of free storage space. Dropbox may be the most well-known and it also features a fantastic iOS app. However, with the release of Stratus, CloudApp is now a hot new contestant in the ring.
You can check out CloudApp on their official website where you may sign up for a free account. If you already have a login, proceed into your account settings page. You’ll need to have an account either way to access and store content onto Stratus. Once you’re all set, let’s continue and see just how accessible Stratus can be.
The amount of intriguing iOS Twitter apps has risen dramatically in the past year. There have been many popular development teams which have created some seriously killer user interfaces, not to mention beautifully artistic designs. The winners of this race to the App Store have been some of the most passionate apps written by very intelligent people.
Scopy is a newer release which focuses on the photo media found on Twitter. You’ll be able to view and share photos with all your followers while also refreshing your Twitter timeline with new content. The icon design and user interface are beautiful to experience and compliment the photographs wonderfully. After the break, I’ll go over how to use Scopy properly, and what you can do after connecting with your Twitter Account.
Google’s most recent foray into the iOS platform is Google Places (somehow suffixed with “hotpot”), a location-based recommendation app with a web backup.
Google Places is one of Google’s ventures that is aimed at both businesses and consumers. The former being able to increase their exposure and the latter able to make more informed decisions on where they visit. Whilst location-oriented features have been available in Google Maps for a long time, this is one of the first proper offerings in the App Store.
Earlier this fall Google upgraded their Google Mobile App for the iPhone to include Google Goggles (try saying that ten times fast), a feature that was previously only available to Android users. In a nutshell, Google Goggles allows you to perform Google searches using images taken with your iPhone’s camera. Once you’ve installed the free Google Mobile App, Goggling (I’m not sure if that’s the official term) is as simple as tapping the camera icon to the right of the search bar and snapping a photo of the item in question.
Before you go too camera happy, it’s important to note that only certain types of items are likely to work with Google Goggles. The software is designed to recognize covers of books, DVDs and CDs as well as barcodes and logos. Goggles will also recognize some buildings and landmarks and will do it’s best to pull text from photos and to identify objects.
There’s no denying that Google Goggles looks impressive in a demo, but how well does it work in the real world? I put Google Goggles to the test, with some help from friends in Ottawa, London and Melbourne. The question du jour: is Goggles truly useful or a novelty that soon grows old?
CSS3 Machine is an awesome new way to create beautiful, cross-browser CSS3 styles on your iPad using visual controls instead of hard-coding.
The workflow for the app can be a little tricky to figure out so today we’ll walk you through a typical project so you can decide if it’s something you could use in your own web building ventures.
Many of us run a blog in some form or another. Whether it’s related to the industry in which you work, keeping track of interesting snippets you find online, or simply a showcase of funny giraffe pictures, the primary method for updating your blog is usually through a web interface. Various desktop blogging applications are available, but your iPhone is also a capable tool for posting updates and links, moderating comments, and keeping track of statistics.
Today we’ll be covering various different iPhone apps and techniques that can help you become a truly mobile blogger!
