Do You Sell or Recycle Your Old iPhones?

Last year, we held a pretty popular promo in conjunction with Green iPhone, now known as Newaya Recycling. We’ve got a similar promotion in the works in the next few months, but it made me start wondering about what our readers do with their old iPhones. Do you recycle them by giving or selling them to someone else? Or do you sell them outright to a stranger? Let us know in the poll to the right.

I gave my first 3G to my little sister (who then promptly “recycled” it in a river), and I gave my second one (4) to my husband, which he drowned in the ocean.

I did sell an Android to Gazelle, which was a pleasant experience. They actually gave me a good chunk of change since the phone was in like new condition and the convenience was worth getting a little less than I would’ve on my own.

No way. Do you sell your old harddrives in computers? Selling a smartphone is just like giving someone a quite detailed log of everything you’ve done while you owned it (given the fact you actually used it as a smartphone and not as a phone with probably an mp3 player).

My original iPhone is in my desktop drawer and that is where it’ll remain for as long as possible.

Typically, i sell mine a month before i expected a new iPhone announced. I make sure to unlock it, then i sell it for about $100-150 more than i paid for it. Basically, i’ve bought one iPhone.
