Do You Use a Case on Your iPhone?

My wife never liked buying cases for her iPhones, she preferred the Gelaskins-style sticker with a little pattern. No biggie to me, but then one day I noticed that the sticker on the back of her iPhone 4 looked a little … bubbly. I peeled off the sticker, and with it came tons of tiny pieces of glass. She had broken the back of her iPhone and had no idea.

Me, I’m a case guy. But what about you? Do you prefer to buy a case for your iPhone, or do you like it au naturale? Let us know in the poll to the right.

I have always used a case, just for the extra protection. Presently, I am using the the iLID MK-1 wallet/case. It lets me cut down on my carry by ditching my wallet and having it with my phone (granted, I don’t carry much more than a couple cards and maybe some cash).

iPhones are far too pretty to be covered in an ugly case. As long as you aren’t an uncoordinated idiot, you’ll be fine without one. I’ve had every single iPhone so far and never had anything other than the basic small scratches from daily usage on any of them.

Do you have kids? My otter box has saved my butt a few times. I set the phone down and my 3 year swoops in like a hawk grabbing a rabbit and off she goes.. The case has kept it in mint condition for as long as I have had it. I wish I could go caseless but not with kids.

I have used both a cover and I am now currently using a Warpsol skin..

I it kinda weird moving from a case to the skin but both have provided very good prtection from minor falls and i don’t have a scratch on my iPhone 4 after almost 2 years of use :) so both work just as well as eachother, its just up to how people like it. I’ve liked both so i got the best of both worlds XD

I’ve always used a Speck Pixelskin case and it’s the most protective thing ever. I’ve literally thrown the phone against a concrete wall with it on.

When I bought my iPhone 4 (my first… my baby…) I bought a hard case for it. A week or so later I bought a Zag skin. …and a day after that I peeled it off and threw it away (POS). Instead, to protect the exposed front glass, I bought a soft slip-cover with a clip on it to put in my pocket.

I babied my phone at first because I knew how delicate the previous ones were.

Nowadays, my phone goes naked whenever I’m inside. If I’m out walking or on my bike, I still use the hard case and the slip-cover and I hook it to my belt loop while it’s in my pocket. Even after I was hit by a car on my bike my phone was fine! If I’m out for anything other than exercise, I just use a felt slip-on case that has an extra pocket for my public transit card.

I know my phone is stronger than older devices, but if I drop it on the sidewalk I want at least a little padding.

I’d say a case is essential if you want to avoid having an iPhone covered in small scratches (or perhaps I’m just unusually butter-fingered)

An iPhone /can/ get scratched, but not from having it in your pocket or on your desk. The new glass on the iPhone 4 was a huge improvement over previous models, and a case is no longer essential to avoid those small scratches that would absolutely COVER any previous iPod/iPhone.

I’ve actually dropped my iPhone onto concrete a couple of times without a case on it. Still no scratches, large or small (though maybe I’m just unusually lucky).
