I’ve spent the past six months or so looking for a great replacement for the stock Camera app. The nice thing about the stock app is that it’s accessible from the lock screen and it’s incredibly quick. Things like that are valuable in a smartphone.
That being said, the stock app also ignores social capabilities for the most part. You have to open a different app to share photos from the camera roll to Facebook or Twitter. Beyond that, it looks more like a point-and-shoot than it does a camera specifically designed for mobile. Now, there’s finally a camera app that addresses these problems with ease: Analog Camera. Welcome back to Game Friday, friends! This week’s line-up includes a lot of punching, some driving, a bit of block shuffling and some nice toilet cleaning.
Yes, you heard me. And I bet you’re going to have a lot of fun with it too, so come on in and see what we’ve collected for you! (more…)
Games are pretty popular topics for reviews here at iPhone.AppStorm, and when Apple decides to spotlight one in the App Store, we take notice. That’s why I jumped on the chance to review Dead Ahead, a zombie runner made by the same people who brought us Cut the Rope and Robbery Bob.
Although Dead Ahead is fun, easy to learn and fits most of my standards for an iPhone game, it does have one big problem. Something that looms over most apps nowadays, but this time with a new twist — one that’s just as insidious as the zombies that roam the game’s universe. Do you dare go forward to find out? (more…)
Add text to your photos with PicLab, which not only offers a quality selection of fonts (no super-cheesy typefaces here), plus the ability to add multiple text boxes, in different fonts and colors.
Bonus: You can turn your text box any which way you want on the image, drag it anywhere on the screen, and resize it — all in a snap. Click “more” to learn more about it. (more…)
Side scrollers are a dime a dozen these days on iOS, so it takes a really polished — but extremely inventive — game to stand out. That’s no short order. But this genre has been done so well so many times — Rayman: Jungle Run comes to mind — that it’s hard to meet that goal.
That’s why I’m more than a little excited about the latest offering from Frogmind: Badland is sophisticated and artistic with a level of polish that most games would only dream of, but also simple and easy to pick up. It’s gorgeous, but understated. Read on to find out what makes this game so great. (more…)
How many times have you wandered the produce isle self-consciously sniffing melons or squeezing avocados, unsure of what’s ripe and what’s rotten? Do you ever wonder which fruits and vegetables are worth spending extra money buying organic to avoid high levels of pesticides? If I look in your fridge right now, will I find moldy berries, limp salad greens or a forgotten avocado way paste its prime? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need to check out Harvest — a pocket guide to selecting and storing fresh fruits and vegetables.
To learn more about how to tell if your melon is ripe, keep reading. (more…)
I can’t tell you if there are a lot of people who write on iPhones or if a lot of writers work for sites like this, but we review a lot of writing apps regardless. Most of the time these apps are very minimal in design and frequently just as minimal in the feature department.
But sometimes minimalism just doesn’t cut it. Don’t get me wrong, I love being able to pop open an app and see nothing but my text. But sometimes you just need more functionality, and more functionality often means dropping the minimalist design. Writing Kit is one such app. It’s full of features that the minimalist writing apps are missing and has amassed its own legion of followers over the years. Is the app worth your hard-earned cash? Read on to find out. (more…)
Staying productive isn’t easy. It needs a routine, discipline and a willpower to say no to distractions. Trust me when I say this, those are really annoying traits to attain. In my experience, I have found that a good productivity app is a godsend and helps you stick to a routine so you can attain some sort of discipline over time.
