  • Awesome list, thanks a lot.

  • I personally like the CNN money application. It gets you updates with the latest news on stock and other money matters. I also like this site on advertising. Maybe you will like it too.
    http://itunes.apple.com/app/adpack/id359562015?mt=8

  • Amortize is also really good if you need to figure out your loan situation and interest rate. It has 15 and 30 years with adjustable interest rate.

  • hum.. it seems that Pandora Radio is not working anymore.. is it?

  • Thanks for the list, I checked out a bunch of these just now and they seem great!!

  • Wow, I had never heard of Use Your Handwriting and I love it so far! Very cool

Also, I would suggest adding Point Inside to your travel section. It not only has mapped the stores of hundreds of malls across the country, but they just added airports too. Definitely useful.

  • I really like the NextBuses app which tells you when your next bus is due.

Also, not sure why Fox News gets such a fanfare. The quality of news is awful, similar to Sky news or the Daily Mail in the UK.

  • You did not include anything from the Reference category?

Like the recent app that blew my socks off for free: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/team-fortress-2-guide/id372925636?mt=8

  • Joshua Johnson did a well job. Almost the most important free apps you have listed. More and more apps added to iPhone app store, it’s the king of the smartphone app!

Try the iPhone Transfer software for Mac users.
    http://www.iphonemactransfer.com/iphone_mac_transfer.php

  • Another great list inadvertently treating non-Americans as though second class people. There are several apps here exclusively only for people in the United States of America.

    • Well im sorry its an american based company and more than have of ios users live in North America.

    • HOLY HELL…. is it just this AMERICAN, or what, but does it seem to my fellow americans that everyone is just jealous. Just remember, christian nation, founded on the ENGLISH language. Not, Spanish, chinese, japanese, etc. Learn to speak English or go home. Same with EBONICS. ITS NOT ENGLISH. Ghetto speak isn’t real. It’s just lazy blacks being themselves. Yeah, that’s racist, deal with it or cry about how you were slaves. WHAT ABOUT THE JEWS??? OH, blacks sold blacks to the whites. Lets not forget that, but yet the blacks already have. Cause there always has to be a reason to HATE the white man!!! People wonder why whites are so racist, what about the blacks? MOST RACIST RACE ON EARTH. Grow up, get over the past THEN we may all get along, until then, your whining, bitchy selves will NEVER be respected by the majority of whites. Also, bring on the responses, sure i OFFENDED everyone on this puss ass website.

      • My IQ is over 140, and what you just said is was retarded, “Ebonics are not English”. Read a dictionary. You are fueling past hatred and therefore being a hypocrite. Not all blacks have forgotten that there were black slave-masters as well. Do you even know who started the slave-trade (the one you know about), let alone the reason for racism?

      • Germany strikes again…

      • Bitch I’m black racist mother fucker always got 2 b the black wen u white fucks think y’all runnin wen y’all ain’t runnin shit an yea I new black sold black but if I wasn’t for u white fucks we would b in dis mess

      • lol comedy

    • cant we all jsut get along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ultimate listing of free iphone apps, i just searched for my latest iphone and downloading most of them for my personal use. thanks for sharing

  • Awesome list! Also, I have never heard of Use Your Handwriting. It’s a cool apps, I think I’ll use it often.

It is fare to include Fox News. Of course, If you’re from the left you won’t like it. ;)

    Great job!!!

  • Yah screw fox news. News should be dramatic and sensational and have nothing to do with the problems of our country or anything that actually matters. I’d much rather see that lady with eighteen kids than learn anything about how our country needs to function in order to survive ! Reality TV all the way, thats wats real ! Who understands our country’s debt and stimulus recovery, JP morgan and GM bailout…? Not me. I don’t want to. all i no is it’s all George Bush’s fault because NBC said so. Michael Moore proved it in a movie I saw.

    • News is not supposed to be dramatic. That is the total opposite of what news is. It is not one of those little kiddy shows.

  • thank you for nice list. great job :)

  • What a far-reaching list you have! I use Box.net and call it my content suitcase! :P I can’t imagine the time spent to review and compile all these. Maybe if you plan to add more categories, please include those helpful apps for moms like iPeriod and Intuition. The latter (www.iconapps.com) I love more coz it works like a personal assistant to me, giving task reminders and location alerts. I am sure there are a lot more on your list of apps for busy moms, I will be coming back for more of your reviews!

  • Looks like everyone has a top 5 list that are not on your top 100 list.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • The one I really wanted – dragon – I couldn’t get. Any ideas?

  • ..yes .. not bad….

  • Thank You for sharing this! I think I could read it all day:)

  • Personally I’ve found Errands to be a more complete, richer app than To Do for that sort of thing. As for music, can’t beat the Planet Rock app – Breakfast with Alice (Cooper) – fun and freaky!

  • Great recommendations. Thank you. But take issue with Fox News, it will do more harm than good.

  • redlaser – compare prices of different stores by scanning product’s barcode
find my iphone – locates your iphone even if it is silent mode
amazon price check – Compare prices on amazon to any store with bar code scanner

  • You didn’t include NPR or PRI. Both of which have the latest news, business and comedy programs, stories of informative value and personal interest. Many stories are so compeling that listeners commonly call them “driveway moments” because they cannot leave their car until the story is over for fear of missing a word. The apps run well and are easy to use.

  • thanks for the list, unfortunately dragon dictation is no more in the app stores list. where can l get one.

    • I just downloaded Dragon Dictation today and my first test was a successful one. Sent SMS to my spouse.

  • Great work guys..

  • Pageonce is the ultimate banking/billing app. It should definitely be on here (above Mint). I use both Mint and Pageonce. Pageonce helps me budget and track my paypal, chase, wellsfargo, AT&T, bank of America and all kinds of other things.

  • Shapewriter has been sold to Nuance and has been pulled from the appstore. It looks like it’s no longer going to be free and I wonder if it’s going to be available at all on the iPhone.
It sounded like a must-have app, unfortunately I never got to try it.

  • Thanks! Some great apps in there, nice categories as well.

  • Customize your background. Check out this awesome Free app!!

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wall-quotes/id405824450?mt=8

  • Great stuffs, downloaded almost….except dragon dictation, as it says not available outside US,,,,as am in Emirates….:-(

  • For sure check out Scan. Best QR Code Reader. Free app: http://bit.ly/ScanApp

  • Great List.. Another one to add is MY NIGHT OUT. It generates a list of local drink specials, dinner specials and local events! FREE It works across the US and other countries.

  • Nice list. But I would like to add one more app to productivity. It’s new app, so maybe what’s why it’s not in the list. It’s ,,Plan” app.
I’m planning my agenda, schedule ,partys and everything else in it. quick and simple.

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/plan/id428005487?mt=8&ls=1#

  • we are the apps wtc

  • you guys can suck my fat black balls! i want to personally take a shit on whoever did this to the internet! fuck you all you disgusting peices of shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • note: Instapaper is not free! Signing up at the website is, and you can use the bookmarklet on your browser, but the iphone app is $4.99.

  • Pretty useful list, especially the MailChimp app!
    Here’s a Top 10 iPhone app list that’s much newer: http://blog.iguidu.com/2011/05/top-10-essential-iphone-apps.html

  • Great apps! Is there an app for call history because iphone only keeps call history for 15 days and deletes the oldest.

    • I would say Google Voice is the best for that.

  • It looks like it’s no longer going to be free and I wonder if it’s going to be available at all on the iPhone.

  • Great stuffs

  • Great apps!thanks

  • Made by Britains Youngest iPhone Developers. What a handy app!

  • its very nice but i want slam book iphone app for free where can i get

  • thanks for the article
    Bookmarked

  • thank for sharing, many useful apps
    found it in internet
top 40 best free iphone apps 2011

  • Thanks for this. Several good ones I used and can use. But can you please add some data to each apps to where it can be used? for instance urbanspoon is just available in a few cities and then only in the States. Downloading that for me in europe is useless. Thanks anyway for the useful ones!

  • This was very helpful because I just my Iphone 4 and love it!!!! :) With everything I’m downloading I hope I don’t use all my battery life. LOL!

  • i heard there was an app for a mirror on the IPhone, has anyone heard of this?

  • These apps are really easy to use and the price seems to be a good one. Few of them are even free.

  • YourAlbums – Better than native IPhone photo gallery!
All photos are grouped by Events, like in iPhoto! So very easy to search!

  • YourAlbums:
    http://youralbums.me
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/youralbums-photo-calendar/id455929632?l=ru&ls=1&mt=8

You can find any photo, remembering only approx dates!

  • Awesome apps! Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, those are quality apps, some of them I have never seen before.

  • This was all superb apps. I have them on my iphone.. Do you talk in your dreams? Download free Dream Talk Recorder iPhone app now and find out http://bit.ly/nVTJ3Z

  • For app udates and to monitor for freebies and discounts i use AppAdvice and AppZapp. Very useful apps, both are free (i think)..

  • lens-according to AoTeLaiSi mall in the mouth to understand: sunglasses, the choose and buy sunglasses, be sure to double attention whether belong to high quality lenses sunglasses. Of course, the most effective and easy to operate, the difference in approach is under the irradiation of light bulb, MLB Jerseys&hatswith macroscopic observation lens whether there is steam, bubble and lens on the various defects, residual flaws. • I am not able to creat an apple account. I’ve already tried on 3 mails but they keep asking for credit cards wich I haven’t.

  • Terrrfic!

  • i have new iphone4 but problem is
Bluetooth another mobile sending not working
why without apple support Bluetooth not working

  • i guess so u guys are extra dumb nerds

  • Awesome :)

  • I find the foursquare app still to be problematic, it has a lot of issues! The last one for me was that it kept saying I had one friend request and I had none (when clicking to see who my request was, nobody appeared – the message dissapeared and then appeared again). Also, when I receive a new notification and I select it, then it erases the yellow highlight. When I refresh the notifications page, then the yellow highlight appears again! I really wish them to fix this, it’s getting annoying! My iphone is the 3gs with ios 5.1!

  • what about fish life does it use internet cinnection

  • niggers

  • Very useful list of apps, keep up the good work :-)

  • Cool, nice list of free apps for iPhone! Just what Im searching, seems this list is similar to the one I got from Enolsoft.
    http://www.enolsoft.com/blog/best-free-iphone-4s-apps/
