25 Seriously Addictive Sudoku Apps

Everyone’s favorite numerical puzzle game has exploded on the iPhone with more great apps than you can shake a stick at. If you’re unfamiliar with how to play, the basic premise is that each row, column and block of nine squares must contain only one of each number 1-9. The premise is simple and the possibilities endless! Prepare to be addicted.

Below we’ll take a look at a good representation of the Sudoku apps you’ll find for the iPhone. The first section represents some of the best standard Sudoku apps you’ll find, the second section contains solvers to help you out and scanners to grab printed puzzles, and the last section contains some really interesting and unique Sudoku interpretations. Let’s get started!

I’d hate to be a grammar Nazi, but the title should be “25 Seriously Addictive Sudoku Apps”. I know, I know, I can hear the groaning and eye rolling already!

Otherwise, this is a helpful article; I’ll definitely be checking out Sudoku ✯. Thanks!

      Perfectly valid point actually!

    • Clayton

Isn’t it the present participle of the verb addict? The class bores the students. It is a boring class. This Sudoku app addicts the user. It is an addicting app.

I bought Sudoku 2 Pro, and I love it.

    • http://www.coroflot.com/joshuajohnson Joshua Johnson

I have that one too, definitely one of the best I’ve used by far.

    • Krro

I have it too and love it. I find it cumbersome to play on the iphone though, like any other Sudoku (on the ipad is fine). So I am playing Kiridoku on the iphone on the go and Sudoku 2 Pro on the ipad.

‘Mister Sudoku’ is my favorite, because it supports far more variants than the other games listed above!

I bought Amazing Sudoku and one that is not listed here named This Is Sudoku. I found interesting the way you solve sudokus in the last one.
    Anyways, great article.

Great list of traditional Sudoku apps!

If you love doing Sudoku puzzles we have developed something uniquely new. The concept is very different in that all numbers have been provided for you. However, the numbers are on a moveable cylinder. The logic is very similar to traditional Sudoku, but the game play is more interesting and interactive.

We have a free version available. Please check it out a short video demo at: http://www.rolldoku.com

    Thanks!

I love SUDOKU!! I don’t think is an app which I like less because i even love the puzzle who is on the last page of a magazine. I play Sudoku now on my iPhone when I am at home, at work (I hope my boss doesn’t read this blog) and even when I’m taking a bath. Now I’m trying the Deca Color Sudoku and the 3D Sudoku.

One feature I’ve missed (since giving up on my Windows Mobile iPaq) is the ability to save (and later restore) the current state of a puzzle: so you can attempt a solution and, I think prediction fails, return to the saved state and attempt a different solution.

You should consider adding Sudoku Touch + to this list. A really neat app that uses handwriting recognition. Unlike any other sudoku app available and it makes for a really enjoyable game.

I’m surprised sudoku by Pennypop isn’t on here. It’s so well designed and beautiful. All these other games look terrible…
