Train Conductor 2: USA
Train Conductor 2: USA
Every now and then a game comes along that is as infuriatingly difficult as it is incredibly addictive. Train Conductor 2 is one such example of this, requiring a quick finger and a fast mind to get through this game without going utterly insane.
Essentially the game requires you to connect train tracks together in order to ensure trains avoid each other and get to the other side of the screen. Except it’s far more complicated than that! There are 8 different types of trains and 5 locations to complete. Great fun at a good price.

X-Plane HDEF-4G
X-Plane HDEF-4G
Don’t be put off by the price, X-Plane is more than just a simple iPhone application. It’s one of the best looking iPhone applications around, consisting of simply stunning scenery and some beautiful looking planes.
Combining all of the planes from the other X-Plane games, HDEF-4G features F-22s, B-1s, SR-71s, Boeing 787s and many more different planes. Unfortunately, the UI is terribly tiny, giving the impression that it has been ported directly from the iPad with little consideration for the reduced screen size. One for the plane enthusiasts.

Star Wars: Battle for Hoth
Star Wars: Battle for Hoth
The Star Wars franchise has been the producer of some fantastic games over the years and Battle for Hoth does not disappoint. A stunning tower-defense game set on the planet of Hoth, Battle for Hoth pits you against the Imperial Army as you aim to defend the Echo Base from attack.
There are 15 action packed levels incorporating original music, sound effects and enemies from the Star Wars franchise. Take on AT-ATs, AT-STs, Snowtroopers, Droids and a whole load of other enemies across the Classic and Fortress gameplay modes. A good, solid Tower Defense game.

TRON
TRON
Coming from Disney as a tie-in with their latest movie, is TRON, a tank battle game with some good looking sci-fi graphics. The game starts slowly to being with, allowing the user to adapt to the control system before speeding up and increasing the difficulty of the enemies you come up against.
According to the App description, written in binary no less, there are regular updates being released for the game, with the first one out yesterday (22nd July). For a free game, it’s worth a punt.

AirAttack
AirAttack
Lastly this week is AirAttack, another fantastic looking flight game, although this time it’s a great top-down shooter. There are 8 missions to complete across some beautiful environments, with 58 different types of enemy standing in your way.
The real-time physics and destructible environments make this an exciting game to play. There are 4 different control types, allowing you to select the most appropriate for your needs as you take on the 8 end-of-level bosses. Check out the free version if you want to have a go.
