Please please please please PLEASE could you adjust your RSS settings so that these massive list posts are contracted for newsreaders, rather than the whole massive post loading into the reader.

NICE! There are even some I didn’t know of yet. Looks like I’ll be loading my iPhone with even more note taking apps :)

I’d also like to recommend one more: Essay App. It allows for rich text editing and it has some special keys in the keyboard to make formatting quick and easy.

A vital part of every iPhone! My go to app is Captio though; dead simple email-yourself-app that’s WAY faster than the regular mail-app.

    Give it a try:

What no Elements? It’s universal, supports text expander, searches through documents, and has a scratchpad for ideas that aren’t quite ready to be a separate note. It’s $4.99

Elements is a great editor, thanks for mentioning it!

Now if only iA Writer was on iPhone…

“Write 2″ for iPhone is much like iA Writer ;) Distraction free, simple, Dropbox, Auto text, etc..

Thank you for sharing this with us! I’m OCPD and somehow list-taking apps bring relief to me daily. By the way, if it’s alright, I’d like to recommend one of my current favorite apps, Intuition. Tagged as mom’s personal assistant, it’s a task management app that has many features designed to help us moms. It’s really easy to use and it looks cute, too. Plus, it’s free! You can check it out on http://www.iconapps.com/product.htm

thanks for impresive list!! You know, my favorite is ,,Plan” app. I’m writing notes, creating agendas and it works with built in calendar. Biggest plus is that, it Sync all my todos on the go to Cloud ;)

And there is meernotes of course. Have a look at meernotes.com

This notetaking app came out a few months after you published. It’s pretty neat because it lets you export your notes in a lot of different formats, including Google Earth KMZ files. You can also film video, audio, and attach photos.

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fieldnotespro/id457209025?mt=8

Might not be as useful as some of the apps on your list for everyday notetaking, but for an engineer or geologist it offers a lot of good tools.

Wow, what a list … by now you can probably make a top 1000 overview :-)

And that should definitely also include our own Photo Note app – iPhotoNote.

    With iPhotoNote you can

    * Easily create photos with attached notes, categorize them with categories and keywords which you create on the fly as needed
    * Search and filter all your photo notes
    * Create high-quality PDF files with (a subset) of your photo notes
    * Back up all photo notes together with an XML description
    * Use photo notes as visual reminders in your calendar
    * And much more …

    Absolutely amazing post !!!
Thank you so much for this huge effort !!
It’s by far the best post about noting apps I’ve ever read !

Now I’m trying to decide what is the best app for me.
    I need one app with:
    - Searching into note capability
    - Folders (folders into folders if possible)
    - Dropbox sync
    - Geotagged notes

I think Meteor Notes is the best for me but I’m not sure if this app supportes geotagging.

    Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nice summary and well explained.
I am using sweetpicks (www.sweetpicks.net). It is really cool to take note of things you see and like in the street. Instead of taking photos, sweetpicks lets you take a rich note that you can classify and find back thanks to advanced search functions. The notes you take can be found back very easily.

WOW this is a really extensive list.

I recommend using NotesDeck for text notes. Notes show up on all devices instantly (iPad, Mac and iPhone). NotesDeck syncs with Evernote and Dropbox and Simplenote (!!!) so all my notes from other apps are already in it.

So much cleaner than that yellow Notes app. Much more professional. —-> http://www.notesdeck.com

The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so
she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now broken and she has 83 views.
I know this is entirely off topic but I had to
    share it with someone!

If you need a simple lightweight with tag or category support, consider Cavol note, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cavol-note/id648206171?ls=1&mt=8. It is designed in the way that keep minimum and must features for note taking.
