Some of you may remember 1992. It was a more whimsical time when arcades were still around (although not heavily used) and consoles ruled the gaming world. Back then, I was a comic book collector and one of my favorite titles was The Uncanny X-Men, a Marvel brand that’s since been turned into movies, TV shows and everything in between.

In those times we all were waiting anxiously for an X-Men video game to show up on the consoles or in the arcades, and finally it was here. X-Men became a big hit in my town, and I remember spending many an hour slapping joysticks trying to go further and further in the game. But now that it’s available for the iPhone, is it worth the purchase? Does it stand up to the test of time? Let’s find out.

Looking for a new adventure to keep your iPhone or iPod Touch fun?  Look no further than Iconfactory’s Astronut.  While this game isn’t an absolute newcomer to the App Store, it’s such a fun and unique game that we couldn’t pass it up

Iconfactory has a long history of popular Mac and iOS apps, including IconBuilder, CandyBar, Ramp Champ, and more.  Astronut, their latest app, is a surprisingly fun arcade-style game that takes the genre to a whole new level.  In this game, you guide your astronut through a universe full of dangerous planets, aliens, and more by jumping from planet to planet.  Best of all, it’s free for the first 4 levels!  Let’s dive in and take a look at this game before you head over to the App Store to install it!

The original Star Wars film may have been released over 30 years ago, but the Star Wars universe is still going strong. A good example of this is the wide variety of Star Wars-themed games available in the App Store today.

One of the latest releases is Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner, and it takes all of the fun of the movies and puts you right in the middle of it all. But is it worth the money? Hit the jump to find out.

Welcome to another edition of iPhone Game Friday. This week the iPhone game market has been dominated by the release of “Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars” and we will have a full review of this game coming next week (sneak preview: It’s fantastic!)

This week sees the continuation of our themed roundups, focusing on apps that fall into the ‘Arcade’ category of games. Again we will try and bring you a brief introduction into five great games, from the delightful Rat on a Scooter to the promising Goals! Pro.
