Time is a great healer. With enough perseverance, it isn’t very hard to weather testing times knowing that it will all end one day. Alright, that was downright cheesy. But, it is so very true, isn’t it? Counting down to something spectacular is a great way to channel excitement or to secretly vent your anger.

Being able to see the countdown ticking whenever you want is a great way to stay motivated. And, now we have an app for that! The makers of Working Days Countdown didn’t actually put much effort into naming the app. With a verbose and self explanatory name, I hope they put some effort into making this app a fun one atleast. Some apps available for smartphones these days try and do too much at once. They present you with an endless list of features, but they’re all executed badly and the resulting experience is frustrating. Other apps, whilst having less features, focus on one specific task but pull it off brilliantly — and the resulting experience is fantastic. Countdown Me is a great example of the latter. From kitchen timers built into your oven to sand timers beside your sink, timers are one of those little useful gadgets that get thrown into everything and then promptly forgotten. Yes, we need to make sure we know when the cake’s done baking, but truthfully, you’re not very likely to hear the kitchen timer once you’ve wandered off to another room anyhow. There are plenty of things we really do need to time, but often, traditional timers are too much trouble to keep up with.

Your iPhone can be a great solution to this problem. The built-in clock app includes an alarm, stopwatch, and basic timer, and you’re much more likely to hear the timer go off since its always right there in your pocket. Still, the included timer could be improved, so there are many alternate timer apps in the App Store now. Today we’re going to look at the Best Timer app, which may not really be the absolute best timer but is still a very nice alternative to the built-in clock timer.
