Of all the great things that the iPhone lets me do, I’d put tracking my finances near the top of list. While, it may seem boring, it’s something I always struggled with in the past; so much so that I constantly overdrafted my account and had to pay hundreds of dollars in fees. Since I purchased my first iPhone I’ve used Checkbook to balance my accounts, and have become a lot better at keeping track of my financials.

While Checkbook has been good to me over the years, I’ve always kept a lookout for similar apps. To me, Checkbook had a lot of great functionality, but wasn’t a great looking app (it’s not poorly designed, but is a bit plain). Being someone that’s very into design, I always hoped to find an alternative that offered the functionality of Checkbook, while providing a design that made that app a joy to use. With the release of Bankr Personal Finance (referred to as “Bankr” from this point forward), I’m happy to say that I believe my search may finally be over. Find out why after the jump. (more…)

Going out to eat with your friends can be a lot of fun — until the bill comes. Sitting around while everyone at the table does confusing math in their head about how much money they need to put down quickly becomes frustrating scene.

A new app named Billr aims to relieve some of the stress that comes from splitting a bill. You enter some information from the bill, and the app walks you through the necessary steps of dividing the costs in the most fair manner possible. Sounds great, right? Let’s find out. (more…)

Isn’t it funny how money, while being such an important part of our lives, often goes overlooked when it comes to digital solutions to managing it or tracking it? Sure there are options out there, but I know I never really took any of them seriously. In a lot of ways, I was prone to simply flying by the seat of my pants, hoping and praying that the numbers all balance out at the end of the month and that I didn’t owe anyone money I didn’t have.

Wouldn’t it be nicer though if you had a comprehensive record of incoming funds and outgoing expenses? Something that could give you an at-a-glance understanding of where your money was, where it came from and where it went?

Enter Moni. (more…)

There are certain application categories that seem to draw a lot of attention from both developers and users. Aside from to-do list apps, the most popular category would have to be applications that promise to help you keep track of your money.

Some of them focus on sheer information while many have tried to gain users with stunning user interfaces. Saver falls into the latter camp, at once entering a saturated market and shattering the average user’s expectations. Want to learn about how it works? Follow along after the jump.

Managing personal finances is far from the most exciting part of one’s day-to-day life. It’s generally time consuming, requires you to always remember when you spend any amount of money, when you have bills due, when you receive income and the actual result of all the work is often not even worth the hassle. It’s no wonder most people don’t bother.

One thing that a lot of people try to do, is stick to a budget. It’s a lot easier than trying to manage your entire life’s finances, and can be very beneficial if you stick to it. Even so, keeping track of your spending, and having an effective and easy way to get an overview of it, can still be a pain. Enter Spend for iPhone.

Freelancers the world over generally have to invoice their clients before they get paid. An invoice is a legal description of goods and services provided with indication of payment methods and terms. There’s a range of services for freelancers to create invoices, both those that are dedicated to the purpose (like FreshBooks) or traditional office applications (like those in iWork or Microsoft Office).

There’s a small community of finance apps on the App Store focused at freelancers, and Invoice Robot is certainly not the only one aimed at invoicing. A companion to the popular FreshBooks service is MiniBooks, which we’ve already reviewed here at AppStorm, is one alternative, as is long time AppStorm-sponsor Billings Touch.

Invoice Robot is a mobile invoicing solution, available as a universal binary on iPhone and iPad. Today, we’ll be taking a look at it to see whether or not it’s worth a download.
