GamesWhen I was young, I used to take a city bus from my school so that I could go to the comic book store every Friday and pick up my regular issues. Following the monthly adventures of my favorite characters — many from the DC Comics universe — was my life back then, and a very enjoyable part of my childhood.
It’s been a long time since those days on the Phoenix Metro, and now I’m an adult with a family to support and all the responsibilities that come with it. But when I want to get my comic book fix, and the Comixology lineup on my iPad just isn’t cutting it, I turn to Injustice: Gods Among Us. (more…)
Spring is in the air, and we’re happy to welcome the balmier weather (in some parts of the world!) with a collection of new games we’ve been enjoying from the App Store.
Join me for a look at the finest new titles for this week! (more…)
I’m a big fan of trivia, so I’m always on the look out for a good trivia game for iOS. I have tried many different versions, and none of them really lived up to my expectations. Trivia games were either too easy or too difficult, buggy or just plain ugly.
So when I first saw a friend of mine playing MAG Interactive’s Quizcross, I immediately asked him what he was playing. I downloaded the app shortly after, and since then I have not looked back. Find out what makes Quizcross such an amazing trivia game after the break. (more…)
April is one of my favourite months of the year, so let’s welcome it with some new game releases!

There used to be a Papa Gino’s near my house that my parents would take me to when I was a kid. It was one of those deals where on your birthday you could make your own pizza behind the counter and everything. Anyways, they had a pretty small arcade in there — not more than one or two games — but they did have a this sit-down version where you sat across from a buddy and played against each other. Most places had Pac Man, but Papa Gino’s had Frogger.
I wasted many a day playing Frogger at that Papa Gino’s. When I found out that Frogger was available on the iPhone, you know I had to scoop it right up and give it a shot. Would it bring me back to my youth and those garlic-tinted days at the pizzeria, or was it just bad roadkill? Let’s find out. (more…)
Before I bought my first iPhone, I owned a BlackBerry Curve. I loved that thing, even with its many flaws, because it was my first device that handled email and the web, albeit in extremely slow fashion. That, and it was the cool thing to have around the office.
I wasted away many a day playing Snake on that thing, as I did on other phones that came before it. It was simple, fun and easy to use — why wouldn’t I play it? Turns out that’s Nimble Quest in a nutshell.
One of my earliest memories is when my father took me to see The Empire Strikes Back. It was at this huge movie theatre located right off of Route 9 in Framingham, Massachusetts, and we waited outside for what seemed like forever just to see the film. By the time I left a few hours later, I was converted. I was a Star Wars fan.
As a result, I love all things Star Wars. When Zen Pinball first introduced Star Wars pinball as an in-app purchase in their game, I bought it and enjoyed banging on my screen. Now, Star Wars Pinball is its own app, complete with three different tables. Well, kinda. Let’s take on the Kessel Run after the jump. (more…)

There are games that come out that just take off. Tiny Wings and its sequel, Tiny Wings 2, comes to mind. It involved a unique touch mechanic that was brand new to the iPhone and its brethren at the time, and it helped change the face of touch gaming.
Time Surfer is not Tiny Wings. But it is. And yet, it’s not. Ultimately, the relationship between Time Surfer and Tiny Wings is a bit complicated, and yet the two of them are intertwined so well that it would be difficult to tear them apart. Let’s explain why after the jump. (more…)
