Attention iPhone owners! You know how you can never seem to find a great music streaming service for iOS? Well, Google has released their Google Play Music app on iOS, which features their All Access service with library of 18+ million songs. At long last, I can ditch the gigs of music on my iPhone and tap into this cloud music business I’ve heard so much about.
Okay, so that was probably an unnecessarily snarky opening, but please forgive me if I don’t get excited about yet another streaming music service that’s incredibly late to the party. Especially when the last service to land on iOS ended up being rather lackluster (I’m referring to Xbox Music for those that didn’t wish to click the link). I can only speak for myself, but as a member of the Rdio faithful, Google’s music service has a lot to prove for me to even entertain the notion of jumping ship. Let’s find out if it can do just that. (more…)
Those of us with large music libraries know how much of a pain it can be to choose what to listen to. Sometimes there’s no time to make a decent playlist; other times you simply don’t even know where to start. While the basic music app on the iPhone is efficient and easily sorts your music, it doesn’t do a good job presenting your music to you when you don’t know what to listen to.
However, in all the areas the default music app is lacking, Groove 2 shines. Featuring intuitive gesture controls and a robust playlist generator, it’s an excellent choice for any music enthusiast. (more…)
Do you have a vast music collection but find you’re sometimes indecisive as to what to listen to? Or maybe you’d just love to have a personal DJ who can read your mind and play all the right songs all the time? Moodagent is an app that creates genius playlists from your iPhone’s music library by categorizing each song’s qualities.
The results are Moodagent playlists tailored perfectly to match whatever mood you’re in, and which can be adjusted on the fly, saved and replayed and shared via social media. Plus, Moodagent’s unique technology enables the app to give you song recommendations based on the musical profile of whatever song you’re listening to — then you can buy the tracks right off of iTunes and incorporate them into your playlists. Hit the jump and I’ll show you how it works.
