There is no shortage of to-do apps in the App Store. There are apps that will sync across platforms, apps that only reside on your phone and apps that live primarily on the web. I would say that behind games and camera applications, to-do apps are the most popular in the store.

They all offer different features, and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Today we’re going to take a look at Orchestra, the app that aims to be home for your own personal to-do list and the tasks that need to get done by, or are assigned by, the other people that you work with. It also has a companion app which we reviewed on our sister site, Web.AppStorm as well.

A few times a month we revisit some of our reader’s favorite posts from throughout the history of iPhone.AppStorm. This article first published on January 19, 2010, yet is just as relevant and full of interesting information today.

Up until now, I have been using my iPhone’s standard calendar as a personal to-do list, since I hadn’t really found a to-do list application that I fell in love with. For tasks like picking up groceries and getting a hair-cut, this might be okay, but when it comes to planning trips, shopping for birthdays, Christmas gifts (I know a little late but bear with me!), planning projects for work, and other complex scenarios, the integrated calendar just won’t cut it.

For this reason, I’ve spent some time investigating the different to-do list apps available in the App Store. Twenty five are rounded up here, including some generic applications, and others suited for a specific purpose (such as planning a wedding). Hopefully you’ll find a selection of very useful pieces of software!

Some of us are responsible enough to look at our calendars and to-do lists without prompting, some of us need a bit of gentle prodding to get things done, and some of us need to literally be yelled at. If you live alone, however, or your housemates are unwilling to remind you of every appointment or due date, perhaps it would be best to have your iPhone yell at you. Phones also tend to be more reliable than roommates, spouses, parents or children.

There are a number of iPhone apps on the market to help you remember appointments, due dates, tasks and the like, Cleversome perceived a gap to be filled in ease of use and pure convenience, and recently released their own notification app, 3do. But does 3do really offer anything new? Is it worth the $4.99 price tag? Let’s take a look after the jump!

As with many of the default iPhone utilities, the iPhone’s calendar app is fairly middle of the road. It’s a great app with solid functionality and good design, but it could be improved. If you find that the default calendar app doesn’t quite fit your needs, here’s 30 amazing alternatives you might want to check out!

We’ve split the selection below into categories containing apps with awesome functionality, apps that allow you to track holidays and important events, apps that throw in a handy clock feature, apps with a limited but useful focus, and finally, a few calendars that are just plain fun. Many of the things we have to do each day have to be done at specific locations. From picking up the dry cleaning to dropping off your library books, you have to remember to do certain tasks while in a specific place. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just be reminded of what you need to do while you’re in an area?

Task Ave is a new location-aware task manager that’s designed to help you remember what you need to do somewhere while you’re actually there. You’ll be able to quickly see how far you are from the things you need to do, and can add tasks to locations with the integrated Google Maps or location search. Keep reading to see how it works and if Task Ave will help you keep from making multiple trips for things you need to do in the same area.

So you’re looking for a good task manger? Join the club. We all want the same thing: something beautiful with plenty of features and automatic cloud syncing. We also don’t want to pay for either the iPhone or desktop version. The current trend in web content has taught us that we are entitled to such a service completely free of charge.

Strangely enough, such apps do in fact exist! Today we’ll take a look at Wunderlist, a newcomer making a big splash in the task management world. Also be sure to check out our review of the Mac version over at Mac.AppStorm.
