It’s Game Week here at iPhone.AppStorm, and all this week we’re going to have tons of reviews, giveaways and other good stuff, all centered around the gaming world!
We’re covering lots of different types of games here on Game Week, from 8-bit retros to tower defense and everything in between. But what types of games do you like to play the most? Are you a fan of console ports, or are you all about shooters? Let us know in the poll to the right!
Pre-orders for the iPhone 5 went live last Friday in the wee hours of the morning, and just an hour later, they were gone. Sure, you can still pre-order an iPhone 5, but now the wait time is 2-3 weeks. I’m sure some of you managed to get in your bid, so what did you order? Let us know in the poll to the right.
In my case, I got a 64GB black & slate model, and I even learned something. I called Verizon on Wednesday because I wanted to switch carriers. When I spoke to a rep, she gave me a number and extension to call on Friday morning. She said that if she wasn’t there, just to leave a message and she’d call me back.
At 11:45, I called her and left her a message. At 12:05 am, she called me and I was done by 12:15. Best purchase experience I’ve had with a cell phone company in a long time.
Point is, next time around, you might try your carrier and see what options they have for pre-orders!
So. Anyone have any plans for tomorrow? We do. It’s the big iPhone announcement, and we’ll be live tweeting the event via @iphoneappstorm (mute or unsubscribe if you don’t want to be assaulted by tweets).
But how do you find out about what’s new and cool in the Apple world? Do you follow live? Do you catch up later? How do you feel about nachos? Let us know in the poll to the right.
With the new iPhone seemingly just a breath away, it’s time to tally up all of the iPhone rumors. There have been quite a lot of them in the past few months, but now it’s up to you to let us know which one of those you think is most likely to happen. Is it the new dock connector? A smaller, unibody design? Will it be able to make Julienne Fries? Answer in the poll to the right!

The new iPhone should be coming out soon, which means we’ll all have the chance to either order the iPhone online or buy it in the store. At our house, we ship them direct because we’ve always had the same carrier and we always have someone at home anyways to sign for the packages. But we used to wait in line because it was kind of fun hanging out with the other iPhone faithful.
What about you? Do you wait in line, ship direct or something else? Let us know in the poll to the right.
Last year, we held a pretty popular promo in conjunction with Green iPhone, now known as Newaya Recycling. We’ve got a similar promotion in the works in the next few months, but it made me start wondering about what our readers do with their old iPhones. Do you recycle them by giving or selling them to someone else? Or do you sell them outright to a stranger? Let us know in the poll to the right.
We’re doing some research here around these parts, and when comparing the numbers between the iPhone and iPad sites, we get a lot more visitors on the iPhone side of things. It made me wonder how many of our iPhone.AppStorm readers own an iPad, and how many iPad.AppStorm readers own an iPhone.
Here’s my guess: most of our iPad.AppStorm readers own an iPhone (over 50%), but less than 25% of our iPhone.AppStorm readers own an iPad.
So am I right or am I way off base? Let me know in the poll to the right.
A few months back, my wife handed me her iPhone and I noticed that the Gelaskins sticker on the back felt a bit lumpy. Upon further examination, I peeled it back and a whole bunch of broken glass came with it. Apparently, she had dropped it somewhere along the way, and in the process shattered the back glass. A quick order from iFixit took care of the issue, but it was still an unplanned expense.
What about you? Have you ever broken your iPhone? Let us know in the poll to the right, and tell us your war stories in the comments!
I assume that everyone reading this site has an iPhone (or wants to get one sometime soon), but how many of you use it for work? Now I’m not just talking about having your company e-mail on the phone, I mean real work: writing out articles, mapping out buildings, teaching someone a new language, stuff like that. Is your iPhone more for work than it is for pleasure? Let us know in the box to the right.
I treated myself to a new iPad the other day, and as I was completing the sale, the associates says to me, “Would you like to buy AppleCare for your iPad?” Funny, I had never considered that before.
Turns out there’s an AppleCare option for the iPhone as well. It costs $99, and provides two years of coverage. It covers accidental damage, too — but it comes with a $49 service fee.
So is it worth it? I didn’t buy it for my iPad, but I might for my next iPhone. What about you? Let us know in the poll!
