Weekly Poll

In this week’s poll question, we want to know what you think of the reading experience on your iPad, whether through iBooks or a third party app like Stanza.

Though the iPad is anything but a simple reading device, it has been touted as a direct competitor to more dedicated readers like the Kindle and Nook. Obviously, the biggest competitor to these new-age digital readers is the beloved paperback.

So what do you think? Are e-readers a significant improvement over old school paper and ink? Is the iPad the best experience among these devices or is it the Kindle or some other competitor?

Leave a comment below and let us know what you think!

In this week’s poll question, we want to know if you’ve ever jailbroken your iOS device.

Jailbreaking is a popular method of adding more functionality to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad by hacking the system to allow some functionality that Apple doesn’t offer out of the box (it’s perfectly legal but Mr. Jobs sure isn’t happy about it).

Leave a comment below and let us know what you think of jailbreaking, what method you use and whether or not you’ll keep jailbreaking your devices in the years to come.

In this week’s poll question, we want to know how many apps you have installed on your iOS device!

Leave a comment below and tell us whether you like to cram your device to the brink or keep the offering slim. I currently have 73 and would have a lot more if I weren’t about out of storage!

Don’t go counting your apps one by one to answer! Instead, tap on Settings and go to General and About. The number next to the Applications heading should tell you how many are installed on your device.

In this week’s poll question, we want to know how well you guard your precious iOS device. Have you ever dropped it? If so how often?

Leave a comment below and tell us about when you dropped your iPhone and if it did any damage. Did the phone still work? Did the screen crack? Were there any noticeable scratches or dings?

As for me, I’ve never dropped an iPhone but I did drop my first generation iPod Touch into the pool one time! I thought for sure it would be dead forever but my crafty wife placed it in a bag of rice for 48 hours to dry it out and it has worked ever since. The audio now only works through the headphones but everything else is just fine!

We’re kicking off a new weekly poll today, getting our readers opinion on a different topic each week. Hopefully this will give us all a chance to talk about a relevant issue, share our thoughts, and generally have a chat in the comments!

Today I’m asking the question many people are wondering. When will we see an iPad with a camera? It’s obviously going to be the next hardware feature to be added to the iPad lineup, but will we be seeing it materialise in time for the holidays?

Traditionally, Apple have a yearly hardware upgrade cycle. This would mean we wouldn’t expect to see a new iPad released until April 2011. With all the hype about FaceTime being added to the new iPod touch, wouldn’t it make sense to add a camera to the iPad in time for the holiday season?

Personally, I think we’ll be waiting until April next year, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Do you agree? Let us know – and do share your thoughts in the comments!
