Weekly Poll

It’s a new year, the new iPad is coming out tomorrow and we should see iOS 6 come out by the time the next iPhone comes out, whenever that happens to be.

So when is that going to be? Will we get a sneak peak tomorrow with the iPad 3, or does it come later with the iPhone? We’ve got some options, so let us know in the poll to the right where you stand.

Although this is the iPhone arm of the AppStorm network, let’s face facts: Apple announcements are always big news. And currently, the big hype around the rumor mill is that Apple is going to have an special announcement on March 7th, just one week from tomorrow. What’s it going to be about? We’ve heard iPad 3, and it makes sense, what with the company’s track record with the iPad. But nothing is a given here, just look at the delays on the iPhone 4S.

So what do you think? Will Apple schedule an announcement for next week? Will you hear about it this week? Let us know in the poll.

UPDATE: Looks like the rumors were correct. Today, Apple announced an event on March 7th for the iPad.

Depending on which side of the fence you sit, you’ll get a ton of different opinions on whether the recently announced OS X update Mountain Lion is turning into iOS, or if it’s just a matter of unifying the two platforms so the concepts function the same way. I’ve already posted my thoughts on the matter, but now I’d like to know what you’re thinking.

Let us know in the poll to the right if you think iOS and OS X are slowly becoming merged into one, or if you’ve got a different opinion.

Let’s face it: a lot of you who read this site own iPhones and probably own an iPad as well. Rumor has it that the latest and greatest iPad is going to be released in just a few weeks, and it sounds pretty cool for a completely speculative concept.

What camp are you in? Will you buy a new iPad when it comes out or do you only stay on the iPhone side of the fence? Let us know in the poll, per usual.

They say that the best camera you have is the one that’s always with you, which is probably why I take more photos with my iPhone than with my other options. There have always been lens systems for the iPhone, but after reading about the iPro, I started wondering if I would ever buy a set for my iPhone. Is it worth the price?

Well, you tell me. The poll is right there, go for it!

Here in the US, Verizon is pushing pretty hard to make sure that all new smartphones on their network are 4G LTE capable for this year. Verizon sells the iPhone of course, which begs the question, will there be a 4G LTE iPhone in 2012?

We’re not psychics over here, but we know everyone likes making their own predictions, right? Well here’s your chance. Let us know in the poll to the right what you think!

Apple has a special announcement scheduled for this Thursday, with only a brief clue as to what is happening: “Join us for an education announcement in the Big Apple.” But what does that mean? Pundits and rambling on about it being a new iPad, a new iPhone and even a full-sized AppleTV.

But what do you think will happen at this event? We’ve got our suspicions, what are yours? Let us know in the poll to the right.

Although this very site is considered to be US based, our parent company is in Australia, my boss is in the UK and most of the writers come from all over the world, creating quite the mix of people. All of us who work for the site have iPhones obviously, but what about who we get our service through?

So I wanted to do a little experiment. I’ve put a poll up here with all of the major US carriers, plus a few UK, Canada and other offerings, just to round it out. But in case I missed something, I’ve also put down continents as well. By the time the poll is done, we should get a pretty good idea of where everyone is from — well, everyone who answers the poll, anyways.

There’s been a lot of complaining around these parts (mostly by me) about games being ported to the iPhone that are ridiculously difficult to control. It’s just the inherent nature of holding a small phone in your hands and controlling things by touching a glass screen, but it could be improved upon.

Well, looks like someone has gone ahead and made that mythical controller that I’ve been dreaming of, the only problem is there aren’t many games for it — yet. It’s called the GamePad, and it sells for $49.99. It seems to solve most of my problems, but here’s the thing: Is having a game controller for your iPhone worth the money?

It’s your call, people. Vote in the poll to the right and let us know!

So it’s the day after Christmas, and those of you who celebrate the holiday are probably still working your way through piles of tinsel and empty cartons of eggnog. It seems like at our house, an iTunes gift card is usually standard fare under the tree, but more recently we’ve been getting apps given to us via the App Store.

What about you? Have you found yourself with an app under the tree? Have you given one yourself? How about gift cards? Let us know in the poll to the right.
