You probably know Zynga best for their popular Facebook game FarmVille, the one that all of your non-gaming friends play. It’s those types of apps that Zynga does really well, and one of the classic staples of their roster is Words With Friends.

Essentially, this is Scrabble — just don’t talk about it (Like in Fight Club, rule No. 1, don’t talk about Scrabble). But instead of passing your board back and forth between your competitor, Words With Friends (or WWF for short) is more of a casual game that can span across days if you want. So what makes this Zynga special so fun? Talk it out after the break.

Some of you may remember 1992. It was a more whimsical time when arcades were still around (although not heavily used) and consoles ruled the gaming world. Back then, I was a comic book collector and one of my favorite titles was The Uncanny X-Men, a Marvel brand that’s since been turned into movies, TV shows and everything in between.

In those times we all were waiting anxiously for an X-Men video game to show up on the consoles or in the arcades, and finally it was here. X-Men became a big hit in my town, and I remember spending many an hour slapping joysticks trying to go further and further in the game. But now that it’s available for the iPhone, is it worth the purchase? Does it stand up to the test of time? Let’s find out.

If there is one category of games that’s entertaining to young and old alike, it’s puzzle games. Unlike the name indicates, today’s puzzle games are far removed from their former analog counterparts. It’s not about matching tiles which each other anymore to reveal an image or form a shape — puzzle games come in all sorts of variations and styles.

But at the core you always have to solve a mystery: find something hidden, no matter if it’s an object to spot among a thick forest or a shape that will materialize once you align dots the right way. Pictorial HD falls into the latter category. It might not be the most challenging game you’ll ever play, but it certainly is one of the more beautiful and relaxing ones. Let’s take a closer look …

Does anyone remember the game Snood? Years ago, when I was just a boy, I played the game Snood on my home PC. It involved shooting small shaped and colored creatures from the bottom of the screen up into a heaping mass of similar creatures collected at the top. The goal of this Tetris style game was get rid of all the Snoods, which disappeared when certain colors and shapes met up. There are probably hundreds of puzzle games formed off this same basic concept, but Snood blew me away because it was the first of it’s kind that I played.

Today, I present to you Amazing Breaker. This gorgeous game from Dekovir gave the me the same feeling of awe and excitement that Snood brought me, because of it’s brilliant approach to puzzle gaming. Hit the jump to find out exactly what makes Amazing Breaker a serious notch in this genre.

I’m a big fan of racing games, and since the first iPhone came out, these types of games have been the best for this device, since the accelerometer gives you a very nice driving feeling. There are a lot of competitors in this game category, though. Some of them are very realistic, like Real Racing 2, and others not so much. The great thing about Asphalt 6 : Adrenaline is that it mixes realism with some cool features, and is very fun to play. Read on for a preview of what this game has to offer.

World of Goo HD is a strange game. Normally when I buy something from the App Store (or any store for that matter) I have a pretty good idea of what it is I’m actually buying before I buy it. When game shopping in the iOS App Store, whether we’re looking for a a puzzle game, action game, multiplayer game or something completely different, people normally flick through the available screenshots and read game descriptions to get an idea of what the game is about before dropping the cash. We’re sensible like that.

Enter, World of Goo: The game you never knew you needed.

Infinity Blade II requires no introduction. Its predecessor was — and remains — one of the best looking games on the iPhone. Originally designed for consoles and then brought to iOS at the last minute, Infinity Blade took advantage of the touch screen and Retina Display in a way that few others have managed, combining simple yet addictive gameplay with excellent visuals.

Now Infinity Blade II is here, and I’m sure that many who enjoyed the first game have already downloaded the app and begun their quest. Does this sequel suffer from the laziness that can occur when something is released on the heels of a blockbuster, or is it as good — or better — than the first game? Read on to find out.

The world is vast, laid out as a landscape filled with the hard, straight edges of digital grass, stones, sand and trees. I continue my climb to the nearest mountain peak. This will be a good place for it. The land spreads out far below — the ocean in the distance, the hills to the left and the white fog that shows the limits of my visibility. This will be a good place to build my castle.

I start with a single, narrow path that heads straight out from the mountain — a bridge to the sky. Next, I build out a wider platform on top of which I will create the foundation of stone and wood. Arched doorways, long halls, wide sitting rooms, flickering torches, hidden passageways, deep tunnels — a spectacular monument is formed.

It’s called Minecraft, and if you haven’t heard about it yet, you’re about to.
