iPhone Game Friday: New Releases

Another week passes and the big news from the last seven days was the release of iOS4, allowing all owners of 3G and 3GS iPhones to upgrade to the latest operating system. As it’s Friday, we once again roundup the best new releases to the App Store, including the amazing new A-Team movie tie-in and one of my new favourites, Hit N’Run.

If you have any comments, or an app that you want reviewed, get in touch!

The A-Team

The A-Team

The A-Team

Released as a prequel to the upcoming movie, the A-Team iPhone game features 20 action-packed levels on a brand new mission. Taking control of each of the four characters, who all have special skills and attributes, you fight against a number of different enemies, utilising each character’s skills to complete the mission.

The game features the voice of Quinton Rampage Johnson who plays BA Baracus and is said to tie in heavily with the upcoming movie storyline. Controlling the game is simple, you move characters around using a joystick and they automatically fire on enemies. Lovely graphics and enjoyable gameplay make this a highly recommended game.

Super QuickHook

For those of you who love fast-paced arcade games, Super QuickHook is one that may appeal to you. Swing your way through the game, exploring fields, caves and more, across 18 fantastic levels. You control the game by tapping where you want to latch on to and then releasing when you want to let go.

This simplicity makes the game highly enjoyable and the inclusion of a Ghost Race mode means that you can take on your friends to see who is the best. There is a lot to do in Super QuickHook and multiple paths on each level add to the replay value.

GodFinger

GodFinger

Riding high in the popularity stakes at the moment is GodFinger, a sort of God Sim that links with your Plus+ account to enable you to play on any iPhone/iPad. You control every aspect of a planet, from the weather and environment, to the people and the economy, earning gold and converting followers in order to gain experience.

You can connect with your Plus+ friends by inviting them into your world and in-app purchases allow you to gain more Awe points. The cartoony graphics are very cutesy, appealing to children as well as adult gamers, and the open-ended gameplay means this is one game that you will keep coming back to.

Hit N' Run

Hit N' Run

Hit N’ Run

Driving game Hit N’Run is sure to become a major success on the iPhone. It’s a cracking little driving game with incredibly simple controls. Steering is controlled via the accelerometer, you tilt left and right to dodge other cars, while trying to hit cars of the same colour as your own vehicle.

There are no acceleration or break controls and the car speeds up the better you are doing. With three different game modes and highly enjoyable gameplay, it seems like the developers have created a real gem. There is a nano version also available if you want to try the game for free.

Pizza Shop Mania

Last up this week is Pizza Shop Mania, a game for those of you who love pizza or if you love to run your own restaurant. There are 48 levels of pizza/pasta serving fun, creating the customers orders and serving them within the time limit to keep them happy.

The happier they are, the more they pay and the more upgrades you can unlock with the money. Coming from the same developers as Chocolate Shop Frenzy, it’s clear that the developers know what they are doing and have developed a great little game.
