First up this week is The Gravedigger, a rather beautiful looking RTS game from the team at Behold Studios. You play as either zombies or humans through 16 challenging campaign levels and the quick play mode, with the aim to destroy the enemy.

A distinct lack of tutorial or help section is surprising, however thankfully this game is so easy to get into and its easy to understand what each type of powerup does. At just $1.99 it is worth a go, with the cartoony graphics perfectly reflecting the excellent gameplay.

Xenome Episode 1

Likened to a version of Fallout for the iPhone, Xenome is a 3rd person action game, featuring one of the biggest game worlds on the platform. You play a soldier who has been reactivated from cryo-stasis after 250 years, trying to find out who you are as two warring factions battle for your allegiance.

The game will take hours to complete, with the open landscape taking many hours to explore, and there are many missions to complete and monsters to kill. Every time you kill an enemy, you gain XNA Genomes, allowing you to buy different abilities from chemists and upgrade your character. Despite the price tag, this is great value for an excellent game.

Mummy Panic

Mummy Panic

I love puzzle games which have enough levels to keep me occupied for more than 20 minutes before I’m either bored or have completed the game. Thankfully, Mummy Panic is one such game, with over 50 levels providing a lengthy lifespan and also a game that you can pick up and play when you have 5 minutes spare.

The aim is simple, you must guide Egyptian Mummies into open crates, avoiding a number of pitfalls along the way, including evil explorers and a number of deadly traps. It’s a highly enjoyable game and one that I would definitely recommend!

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition

For those of you who have played the PC/Mac version of Monkey Island, the iPhone version should look very familiar. Featuring some of the best graphics seen on the iPhone, you once again take control of wannabe pirate, Guybrush Threepwood as you play through one of the classic Monkey Island games, reworked for the iPhone.

Users can control the game using either the classic point and click method, or via the brand new direct control, giving you more control over the character’s movement. If you’re serious about iPhone games, this is one that you do not want to miss!

Rhythm Spirit

Finally this week is something a little different. Rhythm Spirit, a rhythm based fighting game is one of the more intuitive games I have seen from the App Store in the last few weeks. Sort of like a mixture between TapTap Revenge and Street Fighter, you must tap the attack buttons in time with the music in order to defeat your enemy.

There are 10 levels, along with multiple difficulty levels, which caters for all skills. For those of you who like something a little different, pick up Rhythm Spirit and have a little fun.
