There are games of many sorts available on the iPhone. Some go by names as outlandish as The Impossible Game, which is designed to be simply unbeatable. Others, however, tend to have more official titles, such as N.O.V.A. This sort of game is just Gameloft’s iOS iteration of Halo though, and there’s not much more to it than that.

Amazing graphics aside, iOS developer myp” decided to go minimal with his game. It’s fully universal and has been optimized for the Retina iPad — though there are elements that have a little pixelation, like the start screen. This game is not like anything you’ve ever seen before, and while originality is generally something I seek in what I’d deem a good game, The Simple Game still has its share of assets that make it an entertaining puzzle. I’ll take a more in-depth look at it after the break though, so why don’t you join me? (more…)

The iPhone is no stranger to remakes of popular games from the ’80s. Some turn out to be lazy cash-ins, barely updated or reworked for touch controls and a small but high-resolution screen, while others seem to pull out all the stops in a bid to draw players both new and old. Robots and Pencils’ update to the 1984 hit Spy vs Spy thankfully falls into the latter camp, but it’s not without its quirks or shortcomings. Let’s take a look at them after the jump.  (more…)

I’m a big fan of racing games, and since the first iPhone came out, these types of games have been the best for this device, since the accelerometer gives you a very nice driving feeling. There are a lot of competitors in this game category, though. Some of them are very realistic, like Real Racing 2, and others not so much. The great thing about Asphalt 6 : Adrenaline is that it mixes realism with some cool features, and is very fun to play. Read on for a preview of what this game has to offer.

World of Goo HD is a strange game. Normally when I buy something from the App Store (or any store for that matter) I have a pretty good idea of what it is I’m actually buying before I buy it. When game shopping in the iOS App Store, whether we’re looking for a a puzzle game, action game, multiplayer game or something completely different, people normally flick through the available screenshots and read game descriptions to get an idea of what the game is about before dropping the cash. We’re sensible like that.

Enter, World of Goo: The game you never knew you needed.

Infinity Blade II requires no introduction. Its predecessor was — and remains — one of the best looking games on the iPhone. Originally designed for consoles and then brought to iOS at the last minute, Infinity Blade took advantage of the touch screen and Retina Display in a way that few others have managed, combining simple yet addictive gameplay with excellent visuals.

Now Infinity Blade II is here, and I’m sure that many who enjoyed the first game have already downloaded the app and begun their quest. Does this sequel suffer from the laziness that can occur when something is released on the heels of a blockbuster, or is it as good — or better — than the first game? Read on to find out.

To kick off Game Week, let’s just hit this one right with the obvious: Are you a gamer? Do you find yourself furiously tapping the screen trying to get the next level, or just casually playing solitaire while you wait for your doctor’s appointment?

We want to know, so answer the question in the poll to the right!
