I, like many of you I’m sure, am a very busy person. For example, today I’ve scheduled the next two hours to work on AppStorm projects, then I have lunch, I clean my office between 1 – 1:30 pm, I’ve got an appointment to talk about a book I’m working on at 2 pm, then a meeting with a PR rep at 4:15. Oh, and I’ve got to be home by 5:30 to meet my son who is getting dropped off by his grandparents.

Organizing a day like this can be an exercise in futility, particularly when you rely on the built-in Calendar app in iOS. So when it came for me to try to find a new calendar with better options, I went with the popular Calvetica Calendar. We reviewed the Classic version of the app back in January 2011, but what makes the higher end version so much better? Let’s find out. (more…)

Smartphones have become an invaluable part of life for many, and, thanks to many productivity apps, we’ve been able to invest our entire life onto our iPhone, Android handset or Windows Phone. I’ve personally owed a lot of my organisation to Wunderlist thanks to it’s cross platform syncing, but a new to-do list app caught my eye as it become much hyped on Twitter.

For the past few days, i’ve seen a lot of people talking about Realmac Software’s app Clear, a to-do app that’s already spawned an imitation days before it’s own official release. If you’ve read any of my previous articles here at AppStorm, you might have noticed that I review a lot of task management apps, and this one’s no exception! Later is one of those apps that combine simplicity with function and a beautiful interface. It let’s you manage your tasks with ease, and set reminders quickly. It boasts quite a beautiful interface and includes achievements to make the experience more fun and game-like.

Task management apps are what you’ll find most on the productivity category on the App Store. For some reason, one always needs to handle to dos for one thing or another, and with iOS 5’s Reminders app, offering something sophisticated yet simple and powerful has gotten more difficult, especially regarding location-based reminders.

Toodledo is a service that’s been around for a while, that lets you manage tasks, notes, collaborate with friends and provides a huge set of features. So does their iPhone app, so let’s take a look at what it can do for you.


It seems like there’s a new to-do list app on the market every day, and each of them tries to innovate the way you get things done by changing different aspects of the productivity process. There are apps that try to streamline the task input process, or reinvent the way you organize your tasks into lists and folders. What is relatively uncommon, however, is putting more emphasis on the way apps are prioritized. Weave is an unusual and cool task management app. It appeared on the App Store recently, and being free, there’s no excuse not to try it. It combines tasks, projects, money and time tracking all in a single application, making it easy to manage tasks and keep up with the time you use and money you spend (or earn). To-do lists are inherently boring. They’re really nothing more than a bunch of items that you want to get done at some later point, be it three hours from now or next week. Despite the boredom seemingly built into these lists, there’s no denying that they can be incredibly useful when you’re trying to remember all of the things that you need to do.

There’s no shortage of apps to help you monitor these lists in the App Store. They’re $0.99 a dozen, ranging from apps like OmniFocus and Things to something like Underscore Notify and TaskPaper. Each app takes a different approach towards managing your lists, but they share one thing in common: looking at them is about the same as looking at a list on a chalkboard.

HQ, the inaugural app from Sleeping Giant Apps, aims to change that. It tackles the issue of list keeping with one goal: to provide excellent functionality within a stunning, easy-to-use interface.

If you search for “list” in the App Store, you’ll find dozens of apps designed to create to-do lists, grocery shopping lists and even Christmas lists. While list applications that cater to a specific need can be useful, having one app that handles all your lists will not only save you money, but save your poor thumbs from clicking and tapping to and from multiple apps.

ListBook is a simple list management app that makes it easy to create multiple lists and tasks, thanks to the beautiful interface and familiar functionality. Plus, the ability to filter completed tasks, color code tasks and display an icon badge count for remaining tasks will let you mange your lists quickly. Let’s find out more after the jump.
